Day 1 in Braunschweig

Start the day by exploring the old city center. Visit the Burgplatz, a square that includes several historic buildings such as the Dankwarderode Castle, the Braunschweig Cathedral, and a copy of the Romanesque statue of the Lion of Braunschweig (Burglöwe).

Head to Altstadtrathaus located near Burgplatz. In the square are located the Old Town Hall building and the Martinikirche.

800 meters (0.5 miles) from Altstadtrathaus is the Schlossmuseum located in a 19th-century palace.

Visit the Magni Kirche located in Magniviertel, an area with cobblestone streets, small shops, and cafes. Another nearby attraction is the Happy Rizzi House, named after artist James Rizzi, who unusually painted the house.
